Dear friend, After 5 years of continuous Arts Council England (ACE) support, the Centre for Contemporary Art and the Natural World (CCANW) in Haldon Forest Park is threatened with closure following an unsuccessful grant application. In April, we were planning to start an ambitious programme on fashion, textiles and sustainability, but the Arts Council has not agreed our funding bid, due to our insufficient ‘match funding’. ACE has given CCANW the opportunity to re-apply, but the charity needs to raise £20,000 by mid March. Without Arts Council support, CCANW will close at the end of March. But there is still hope. If we can raise ‘match funding’ support from other sources, the Arts Council is likely to decide in our favour. If everyone on our mailing list became a Friend or made a Donation, our immediate target of £20,000 would be reached. You can do either by debit/credit card or by sending us a cheque – please click: www.ccanw.co.uk/become-a-supporter.htm Since opening in Haldon Forest Park in 2006, CCANW – which uses the Arts to explore how we can live more sustainably within Nature – has become hugely important to the South West; supporting new creative practice through exhibitions and educational activities; attracting over 120,000 visitors including families, school children and community groups. CCANW has also become a significant hub linking regional, international and UK arts, ecology and education networks, universities and professional bodies. There has never been a more important time to engage people with the pressing environmental challenges that the world is facing today. Education through the arts touches people – creatively and emotionally – in ways that conventional methods of advocacy rarely do. Please forward this appeal through your own e-networks. Thank you!
